Pastor Jerry and Linda Hill began conducting services at the Gateway Conference Center in October, 2001. Sunday, November 4, 2001 we conducted our first service as Freedom Assembly Church with an attendance of 67.  Since that time we have continued to grow in number and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Our fellowship was incorporated as a non-profit church corporation under the laws of the State of North Carolina on November 7, 2001. 

On April 3, 2002 we purchased the Gateway Baptist Church building located at 691 9th Street, NW in Hickory, NC.  Approximately 85 percent of the church furniture and equipment was included in our purchase of this building.

God has provided more than enough for us to obtain this property. Our first goal was a $10,000.00 down payment to Gateway Baptist Church. We received more than $14,000.00 in one Sunday morning offering in March, 2002. Our second goal was $27,725.00 which was a second mortgage payable to Gateway Baptist Church. This goal was met one month from closing on the property. To God be all the Glory!

Our last goal was to have $50,000.00 for office furniture and other equipment. With God's help the congregation of Freedom Assembly Church reached that goal in April, 2003. 

We agreed for Pastor Stan Frye and the congregation of Gateway Baptist Church to occupy the property until they completed their new facilities. We took possession of our new ministry center in the fall of 2003.
